Royal Marine Commandos and Royal Dutch Marines

Hundreds of Royal Marine Commandos took part in a four day exercise conducting a beach landing as part of Albanian Lion.

The Amphibious Beach Unit (ABU) part of 539 Assault Squadron Royal Marines were one of the first landing units as part of the joint exercise.

The Response Force Task Group (RFTG) was the Royal Naval task force assigned to Albanian Lion, which included four Royal Navy warships and five Royal Fleet Auxiliary support vessels.

42 Commando Royal Marines carried out a series of mock assaults on enemy positions around southern Albania. The aim of the exercise to build up their core skills of amphibious landings.
