Last weekend Imperial Squadron (a composite squadron with personnel drawn from each of the Royal Yeomanry’s squadrons for Ex WESSEX STORM) trained on their fourth training weekend of five.
This is in preparation for a major exercise in the summer where they will form part of the 1st Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment (The Vikings) Battlegroup, fellow Desert Rats of 7th Infantry Brigade.

The squadron, exercising both mounted and dismounted, were up against a live enemy with plenty of surprises up their sleeves. The Yeoman rehearsed moving forward to deploy an OP (observation post) screen and then withdrew in contact the next morning, calling for artillery fire missions, and finally conducting a rearward passage of lines handover once they had delayed the enemy forces long enough.
