2015 marked 70 years since the Allied and Soviet victory over Nazi Germany in World War II.

This year’s parade, however, marked a significant milestone for Russia. The new Armata T-14 tank was unveiled at the parade, the first tank from Russia since the fall of the Soviet Union.

Many world leaders pulled out from the parade since the issues in Ukraine. The Moscow Times reported 30 out of the 68 invites sent out to world leaders showed up at the parade.

The heads of state for the U.S, Germany, France, UK and Spain did not attend the parade but instead sent out ambassadors. North Korean Kim Jong-un pulled out at the last minute. A number of former Soviet states, including the Ukraine did not attend.

Chinese and Indian leaders did attend the parade, as did United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.
